Evening of One-Act Plays
Nov 15-17 & 22-24, 2024
Welcome one and all to Dundas County Players’ fall show! To change things up, we will be presenting three one-act plays…..that’s right! Three shows for the price of one!
You’ll have a laugh learning How To Survive Being in a Shakespeare Play by Don Zolidis, performed by an enthusiastic group of young actors. You may shed a tear at the raw, heartbreaking story in Home Child by Laura Teasdale, depicting the true life fate of British Home Children in Canada. Lastly, you’ll be in stitches watching a somewhat racy and always hilarious comedy, based on our own beloved town in Last Tango in Winchester by David Tristram.
There’s something for everyone in this upcoming show, as well as coffee and cookies in the lobby – don’t miss out!
As an extra bonus, please note that the proceeds from the Nov. 16 performance will go to the fundraising efforts for the Dundas Manor.
Home Child
In 1894, Poppy James is scooped up off the streets of London and sent across the Atlantic Ocean to live and work with a Canadian family. She finds her place in the family, growing ever closer to the eldest son, Matthew, while struggling to keep the
truth of her journey secret. Based on a true story.
How to Survive Being in a Shakespeare Play
Some day it’s going to happen: You’re going to find yourself on stage, wearing tights, and saying things in iambic pentameter. Face it, you’re in a Shakespeare play, and that means it’s a pretty good bet you’re going to DIE. The Bard is out for blood, but this play is here to stop him! How could Romeo and Juliet survive? Julius Caesar? A nameless soldier in Henry the Fifth? Join us in discovering how a dozen of Shakespeare’s plays could’ve turned out differently! If only they listened…
Last Tango in Winchester
The local amateur Dramatic Society is in trouble. The membership has dwindled to four – the audiences aren’t much bigger – and if they don’t come up with some rent money soon, they’re going to be thrown out. “There’s only one thing that sells tickets these days” argues Gordon the Chairman. “Sex!” Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary home-grown drama – an
evening the locals would never forget!
