About the Play: Set in Yonkers, New York in 1942, Lost in Yonkers follows Bella, a sweet but developmentally stunted woman living with her stern mother, Grandma Kurnitz. When Eddie, Bella’s brother, leaves his two sons in their grandmother’s care to seek work as a traveling salesman, the boys must navigate life under Grandma’s strict rule, Bella’s secret dreams, and the unpredictable presence of their Uncle Louie, a small-time hoodlum.
Director Shannon Murdock is seeking four males and three females for this production. Familiarity with the play is encouraged. Actors will be asked to read from provided sides during auditions. Sides will be emailed once an audition is booked and will also be available at the audition. For questions or updates, please email Auditions@dcplayers.ca
