OPEN AUDITION NOTICE FOR
Spring 2012 Production of 'Our Town'
The play was written by Thornton Wilder and won the Pulitzer Prize for
literature in 1938. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the play
reveals the ordinary lives of the people of Grover's Corners, New
Hampshire. At the centre of the story are Emily Webb and George
Gibbs, young lovers who grow up, get married and start a family. When
Emily dies in childbirth, she joins other members of the town who have
passed on and now sit and watch the lives of those left behind unfold.
She soon comes to see life for what it is - a precious gift seldom
appreciated by the living.
The play is performed on a bare stage with few props. The daily
activities of the characters are mimed by the actors. There is a
narrator, referred to as the "Stage Manager", who speaks directly to
the audience throughout the play.
Auditions will be held at The Old Town Hall, 478 Main St. Winchester,On.
Thursday December 15, 7:00 pm
Friday December 16 , 7:00 pm
We are looking for:
15 males including 3 boys aged 10 - 12
10 females including 1 girl aged 10 - 13.
Show Dates: April 20, 21,22, 27,28,29 The Old Town Hall Winchester , ON.
Rehearsals start. Jan. 23
Also needed are people interested in assisting in the production in
costume.. hair, makeup ( lighting, sound, etc)
